As we see in North Dakota, California, and Texas, places where there is legacy vertical production, could hold significant potential for shale exploration in its source rock. Prudhoe Bay is not only the largest conventional oilfield in the United States, but in North America. Starting with approximately 25 Billion barrels of recoverable reserves, industry estimates another 2 Billion recoverable with conventional technology. However, that does not take into account future shale exploration, horizontal drilling, and hydraulic fracturing potential.
